For years, us fans have been complaining about the monotonous body style of today’s stock cars, which, without decals, have no brand identity whatsoever. The only way the current Cup cars can be distinguished is by their “Ford”, “Chevy”, “Toyota” or “Dodge” decals.. which is in complete contrast racing back in the day, where brand identity was prominent among NASCAR racecars.
Anyway, three out of the four Cup cars for the 2013 Sprint Cup Series have been formally unveiled, and the fourth, Chevy, has been teased to fans by a picture of a camouflaged paint-scheme on a car during testing. I am thoroughly impressed by the new body styles, though I’m not sure how NASCAR will regulate aero of the cars, and how cars of different body style will go through inspection.
2013 Ford Fusion -
2013 Toyota Camry -
2013 Chevy SS -
And, my personal favorite, the 2013 Dodge Charger -
Though I really don’t like the Charger street cars, I feel like Dodge has done the best job of reproducing the street car. In my opinion, the Charger looks much better than the Fusion and because Penske ended their contract with Dodge for Ford, I truly hope another large Cup team will pick them up. I mean seriously, look at that car.. who wouldn’t want to drive it? It looks great.
